Gangneung's Process of Joining the UNESCO Creative Cities Network
To join the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, the City of Gangneung has gathered opinions from relevant organizations since 2020 and organized the Gangneung Committee for Joining the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, in which local gastronomic experts, restaurant and cafe owners and chefs, sustainable development activists, and figures from the education and media fields participated in. Starting with a lecture by the Secretary-General of the Korean National Commission for UNESCO, the Committee has organized various activities, including Korean food culture forums, international gastronomy forums with Jeonju of Korea, Macau of China, and Tsuruoka of Japan, signing MOUs with the City of Gimhae of Korea in the creative field, and the Korea Creative Cities Advisory Committee's workshops.
